Second book please.

Awesome book! Hopefully there is going to be a second book. Frantz is the most underrated talent ever! Novak is so lucky to have the close friends that he does. Sadly I have seen to many people die before realizing that. If I was a religious man I'd pray for Novak. But I'm not so all I can do is set back and watch from a public distance. It's strange following Cky as a band and the crew all these years. Watching, reading and occasionally meeting them us as fans sometimes feel like we are friends already. It's a weird connection and creepy at the same time. Like when I meet one if them I know a lot about them and they have no clue who I im obviously. It's got to be strange on there end. We are fortunate that deep down under all the shenanigans there is some extremely great talent and there able to use that talent and create entertaining things for us to watch listen to and read. I'm a charm wearing old school member of the alliance. Everyday I wear my Cky and Å charm. It's sad though. The "good ole days" are gone. There will never be a young Dunn pissing in dicos face in Iceland again. The greatest of that era has passed and I'm just so happy to of been if just for a fan part of it. Traveling 14 hours to see Cky play a Halloween show with 7 guys in a pickup. Then when we get there rake let's like 15 people go back to his house to sleep and hangout for 2 days, awesome groups of guys. Hopefully we get a second book soon.

A beautiful outlook on the junkie lifestyle.

I read this book while in a 30-day treatment center, I had had it for about 6 months before I just never picked it up. I've never done any hard drugs, but there were kids in there that had being doing them for nearly their whole life. I let 2 others borrow the book and they agree, this book is a must buy, especially since there is talk of a sequel.

If there is only ONE book you read this year this should BE IT. No I am not pimping out the book because of monetary gain etc al. Brandon Novak is a regular guy, a son, a friend a person... and his book is not sugar coated or full of governmental propaganda etc. It is a TRUE diary, journal, walk in my shoes BOOK!! Joe Frantz and him created a no holds real true and some times difficult to read account of ONE young mans journey into the life or lack their of dealing with Heroin Addiction...

The Perfect Social Guide for All Ages

Susan RoAne's Revised Silver Anniversary Edition of How to Work a Room is spot on. It gives easy to read directives on how to handle awkward social and business situations. I am an older woman living alone and I find the book really helpful in confronting meetings and events to which I would usually decline. Now with Ms. RoAne's advice on how to handle these situations, I am more confident and I leave these events pleased that I did attend and have become more sure of myself as a result. This is a "Must Read" for everyone.

This is an excellent book for building your brand

This is an excellent book for building your brand. The one problem I had was that it got a bit redundant as the book progressed. Perhaps that would be useful for those who don't read the entire book. However, I read the whole thing. Example: You must build the confidence to make "small talk". The writer also gives you strategies for doing this. Fine, that's all good. Telling me the same thing but applying it to all situations as I go through the book disappointed me. Despite this, I would still recommend the book.

About the Author
David Sklansky is generally considered the number one authority on gambling in the world today. Besides his ten books on the subject, David also has produced two videos and numerous writings for various gaming publications. His occasional poker seminars always receive an enthusiastic reception, including those given at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City and the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

More recently, David has been doing consulting work for casinos, Internet gaming sites, and gaming device companies. He has recently invented several games, soon to appear in casinos.

David attributes his standing in the gambling community to three things:

1. The fact that he presents his ideas as simply as possible (sometimes with Mason Malmuth) even though these ideas frequently involve concepts that are deep, subtle, and not to be found elsewhere.

2. The fact that the things he says and writes can be counted on to be accurate.

3. The fact that to this day a large portion of his income is still derived from gambling (usually poker, but occasionally blackjack, sports betting, horses, video games, casino promotions, or casino tournaments).

Thus, those who depend on David’s advice know that he still depends on it himself.

Good information, some of it needs to be updated.

This book is largely composed of old essays that David Sklansky wrote during the 70's and 80's. Although he knows he stuff inside and out, this book is really not as useful as it could be. A la Stanford Wong, Sklansky wastes many pages regaling the reader with his exploits winning money from defunct downtown Las Vegas casinos during the 1970's. While these stories are interesting, they are nothing more than entertainment. He wastes a chapter telling us about a 1980's craps offshoot called crapless craps which may have been of interest to others in 1985, but no one would care about today. He also offers up a chapter on counting cards at baccarat and at the end tells us that other gambling experts have researched this matter and that it is not really feasible. He offers two chapters about beating progressive slot machines and at the end states that unfortunately progressive slots are different now. His section on poker includes a reprint of 10 pages of his book Hold Em' Poker which to me is a waste of space.
On the positive side, the area of the book on probability is well done. His poker section has some interesting insights although the examples would be better if they were updated to show more hold em' examples and less draw and lowball examples. The sports betting section has some interesting insights but is a little short. The blackjack section I feel is a waste of space. A lot of the essays seem to show the mathematics behind basic strategy which is of interest only to those trying to recreate the wheel. All in all, considering the $30 price tag, this book should get an update which makes it more relevant to today and should excise the essays which are no longer pertinent. I'm not questioning Mr. Sklansky's expertise at gambling, but I do question why certain parts of the book are left verbatim after 20 years.

This book brings dreams of professional gambling down to earth. It only skims the surface of blackjack and poker but Sklansky has a firm grasp on what's important. I met him one time and he was a bit rude. But I have over 30 gambling books and this one is the best.

Mr.Sklansky has written a phenomenal book. I am an 11 year veteran of the futures and commodities market. I have been a broker, investor, and I have written three books on the subject. Mr.Sklansky sheds that necessary light into the probability of gaming success. These thoughts are easily applied to my industry. Whether you are investing in commodity futures or options on commoditity futures, you have to be able to assses how successful the trade can possibly be and understand money management. This book covers it all.
Mr. Sklansky is a very astute gambling mathematician and he paints a broad swathe across the entire gaming industry and shows you what games can be worked and what games will work you. I would like to see him apply some of his knowledge to the investment arena and see what assessments he can come up with. I recommend all of my brokers read this book. For any gambler this book is a necessity for your success. Good luck and put this on your shelf.

where is the rest?

There was nothing wrong with this story. It could have been a little more fleshed out but it was fine. Until the end. The book stops at 42%....right in what seems like the middle. But then that's all! I have kindle unlimited but I may have been peeved if I paid.

I have mixed emotions for this story. Usually I can't wait to jump on Ms.West's hot tamale train of stories. This time there were some issues for me with the ending that kind of fell flat. The story line was enjoyable however because of the ending I didn't love it like the rest of Ms. West's stories. First the good stuff. I love the background story of Atlas and what went on on his home planet. Also I really liked how Ms. West tackled the insta-love this time. Both H & H were questioning how this could happen which I appreciated. Even though you have to suspend your disbelief to enjoy this paranormal story the questioning of the insta-love made it more believable. I was really enjoying the story until the very end. Yes there is a HEA however the ending was abrupt and like another reviewer I too was trying to flip to the next page thinking there was more. Also at the very end one of the throw away lines on how she welcomes home Atlas was just plain crude and not the typical treatment that Ms. West usually gives a sex scene which really wasn't a scene but a statement. The story was left opened ended enough that other stories could be spawned from this one. I give this story 3.5 stars since there are no half stars I rounded up. I received an ARC for a honest and unbiased review.

Thought this book was very slow paced. Only half a book. Very disappointed in the ending. Would not recommend to other readers. Peeved that I paid for it. I wouldn't even give this one star, but that's the lowest option available.
